Noughties Garage Classic ‘Do You Mind’ Named TikTok’s UK Song of the Summer 2026

A UK garage track first released nearly two decades ago has officially become one of the biggest songs of summer 2026.

Kyla and DJ Paleface’s ‘Do You Mind’ has been named TikTok’s UK Song of the Summer 2026, after enjoying a huge resurgence among a new generation of listeners.

Originally released in 2008, the track has exploded on TikTok this year, generating more than 543 million video views from 644,000 creations in the UK over the summer. Its renewed popularity has even helped push the song back into the Official Singles Chart.

UK Garage Is Having a Major Comeback

The success of ‘Do You Mind’ is part of a much bigger revival of UK garage, funky house and related sounds.

According to TikTok, the number of UK posts featuring #UKGarage increased by 42% between February and July 2026, while posts using #HouseMusic jumped 53% during the same period.

Other garage and dance tracks also feature prominently in TikTok’s summer rankings. Silva Bumpa’s ‘On 2nite’ takes third place, while Prospa and Cloonee’s ‘Free Your Mind’ also makes the UK Top 10.

For anyone who remembers the UK club scene of the late 2000s, the renewed popularity of ‘Do You Mind’ may feel like a serious dose of nostalgia. For younger TikTok users, however, the track is effectively a brand-new discovery.

From 2008 Garage Hit to Drake Sample

This isn't the first time ‘Do You Mind’ has experienced a second life.

The song reached a much wider international audience in 2016 when Drake sampled Kyla’s vocals for his global hit ‘One Dance’, which helped introduce her distinctive vocals to millions of listeners around the world.

Now, a decade after the Drake collaboration and almost 20 years after the original track appeared, TikTok has put Kyla's song back at the centre of British music culture.

Speaking about its latest revival, Kyla described seeing a new generation connect with the song as a special “full-circle moment”, with TikTok introducing UK garage and funky house to listeners who may never have experienced the genres the first time around.

The comeback also reached the festival stage this summer, when Jorja Smith brought Kyla out during her headline performance at All Points East in London to perform the track in front of around 40,000 people.

Oasis Take Second Place

TikTok’s UK summer soundtrack isn't entirely dominated by dance music.

Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ was named the UK's second biggest TikTok song of the summer after becoming closely associated with England's 2026 World Cup campaign.

Mass singalongs among football supporters helped trigger a remarkable 6,800% increase in TikTok searches for the song since the start of the tournament. ‘Wonderwall’ appeared in 336,000 creations and climbed back to Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart.

Another Oasis favourite, ‘Champagne Supernova’, also made the Top 10.

Old Songs Are Finding New Audiences

Perhaps the most interesting thing about TikTok's 2026 summer rankings is just how many older songs have returned to the spotlight.

‘Do You Mind’ dates back to 2008, ‘Wonderwall’ was released in 1995 and ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ goes all the way back to 1983.

The trend isn't limited to the UK either. Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’, originally released in 2011, has been named TikTok’s Global Song of the Summer 2026 after experiencing its own enormous revival on the platform.

For Kyla, though, the latest success of ‘Do You Mind’ feels particularly significant. Nearly two decades after its original release, a track from Britain's noughties club scene has found an entirely new audience — and become the UK's biggest TikTok song of the summer in the process.
