The Voice UK has crowned its 2026 champion, with Welsh singer Cate McHugh winning the ITV competition in a final broadcast on Saturday 31 October. It was a particularly memorable result for her coach, Sir Tom Jones, whose departure from the regular coaching panel has added emotion to this year's series.

The victory brings a substantial prize and a chance to turn a television breakthrough into a lasting music career. For anyone who missed the Halloween-night finale, here is what happened and what comes next.

Who won The Voice UK 2026?

Cate McHugh, from Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan, was named the winner after the four finalists performed in the grand final. She represented Sir Tom Jones's team and impressed the studio audience, which selected the champion.

McHugh performed The Beatles' Blackbird as her solo number and then joined Sir Tom for Take Me Home, Country Roads. The pairing made the result feel like a shared celebration of a new voice and an established Welsh music legend.

Who else reached the final?

The other finalists were Frank Raven, mentored by McFly stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones; Monique Nicholson-Porter from Kelly Rowland's team; and Naná Aldrin-Quaye, coached by will.i.am.

Each finalist had the opportunity to perform individually and with a coach. That format put the emphasis on both the contestants' own voices and the musical partnerships they had built during the competition.

What does the winner receive?

The prize includes £50,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group, as well as a trip to Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, according to reports of the finale. A television title is a useful launchpad, but the bigger test will be the songs, performances and audiences that follow.

McHugh's win also gives her a fresh national platform after years of singing and performing. Viewers can revisit the final through ITVX.

Why was this final significant for Sir Tom Jones?

Sir Tom has been one of the show's most recognisable coaches for more than a decade. His absence from the announced regular line-up for the next series means McHugh's victory came at a poignant moment for fans of his role in the red chair.

Rather than assuming he will never appear on the programme again, it is more accurate to say that he is not scheduled to return as a regular coach. Future guest appearances or other involvement would require separate confirmation.

Why couldn't viewers vote from home?

The final was recorded in advance, and the winner was chosen by the studio audience rather than by a live public phone or app vote. Some viewers questioned that format online, arguing that those who had followed the series from home should have a say.

Whatever the debate over voting, the result is clear: Cate McHugh is the 2026 winner. Her next chapter will be measured less by the television trophy than by what she chooses to sing next.
